PostSubject: My Game Idea   Wed Aug 01, 2012 2:27 pm

Introduction

Hey guys. Well some of you may know, I am working on becoming a game programmer in my future. Not only does this include me making game code, but also thinking of games to make. I have been thinking of a game the last couple of days and I finally have enough details to share about it. By the way this is a zombie game.

Single Player

The story revolves around a man named Sanchez. You start the story in a car chase. Sanchez has just robbed a bank and is being tailed by several cops. You try to get away, but you soon crash and are put into a coma. You wake up from your coma ( present day ) and exit your hospital room. You walk around the hospital a bit to find out that it has been totally deserted. You walk outside to find dead corpse everywhere. You now receive your first objective. To find out what is going on. You are presented with several options throughout the story that can decide what happens next. For example, the first objective presents you with two options.

1. Go back to your home.

2. Go back into the hospital.

Each option would have a different outcome.

Your overall goal of the story is to get to the safe zone, with or without your family. Whichever your outcome depends on your decisions throughout the game.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer is an open world PvPvZ game. That means that you will be facing not only Zombies, but also other players.

Before You Start

Before joining the open world server you will be presented with your character customization. Here you can customize your players skin tone, hair style, head wear, upper body wear, lower body wear, shoes, gender, etc. You will even need to select personality traits that will affect you later on in the game. The more you play and complete challenges the more you unlock. By completing challenges and such you receive in game currency. You can also receive in game currency by purchasing it with real money. This in game currency can be used to customize your character.

Factions

In every good zombie movie there are factions. Whether these be big factions, such as gangs, or smaller factions such as groups of 3 to 6 people. Either way, they have them. Now the game will start ( Release Day ) with a few factions to pick from. You can either select to be in one or not. Throughout the games life more factions will be introduced. You will even have the ability to create your own faction at the Peaceful Area. Here you write your faction name and a description of your faction. You can use the game forums to recruit for your faction. As your faction grows you start receiving benefits. At 10 members your faction receives there own fort. This is a smaller fort that will get bigger as you grow more. If your faction has a fort you will now start there instead of being randomly spawned onto the map.

Faction Wars

At anytime you can also have faction wars. To do this you would simply select the faction to fight and send them an invite to it. If they accept it all members from the opposite faction will show up on your mini-map if within a mile of you. Once you die during the war you will not be able to participate in the faction until the war is over. The war ends when one faction losses half of their members. By winning the faction war you receive faction currency which can be used to upgrade your fort. Not the size of the fort, but the looks of it and its defenses.

Starting Point

When you finally get into the game you are spawned into a peaceful area. Here there are no zombies and the players cannot kill each other. This is also where you spawn back to when you die. Here you can talk with players, apply for factions, play the short tutorial, spend in game currency, and much more. If you play through the non required tutorial you receive a few starting items. You will only receive these items by playing through the tutorial however. After enjoying the peaceful area at anytime you can drop down and start the real world. The will be dropped in a random spot. The game will try and drop you down where there are very minimum zombie and player count.

The World Itself
The world itself is huge. If you have ever played Skyrim you know how big worlds can get. Well this world would be bigger than Skyrim's. The world difference between PC and Consoles will be different. The PC world will be much bigger than the world on Consoles because PC's can support more than consoles. Everything in the world respawns at random locations every two hours. Around the world you will find different settings. A few settings include...

Urban: Inner city. This is where a lot of people live at. You will often find a lot more resources, but in return will find more zombies and players.

City: The big stuff. You will have a high chance of finding weapons, but will find a mass amount of zombies and players.

Country: You have a lower chance of finding resources and there are less buildings overall, but the zombie and player rate is much lower.

Resources
Resources can include anything from weapons, medic aid, currency, etc. You can find resources by looting houses or killing players. Sometimes even zombies drop resources, but never guns.

Your Player
Your player or character will have certain needs or wants based on your personality traits you selected before starting. Some needs such as hunger, blatter, energy, etc. will be required, but some needs such as sleep will vary based on your traits. Each player receives different health as well. In the beginning you can also choose player size. By changing strength, weight, and height you will also decide how much your needs affect them and also their health. For example a giant muscle head will have more health and will be more resistant to injuries, but more muscle means more weight which increases your need for food and decreases your speed. Each size will have positive and negative affects on your character.

Injuries
Injuries can be very common or very rare based on your style of play. You can receive injuries in many situations. Some include jumping out of a window, falling down a hill, or being shot. There are obviously more, but those are just a few. Now injuries can vary on how bad they are. Some injuries can be played through and can heal very quickly, but other injuries cannot and will take time to heal. Some injuries may require you to stay put for a certain amount of time before healing. If you do not proceed with caution while facing an injury you may cause a small injury to turn into a very bad injury. All injuries can be healed. An injury such as a gun shot wound can be healed with a medic kit. A broken leg can be healed by either laying there and letting it heal or with a split. Some injuries, if not dealt with, can result in death.

PvP
While wondering around the massive world you will sometimes stumble upon other players. You can either do one of three things. Kill them. Befriend them. Or simply walk away. Now for me, I would personally kill them. Now there are several ways to kill someone. A sneak attack will give you a unseen bonus and will inflect more damage to the player. The damage of a regular attack will solely depend on where you him them and what you hit them with. Now with a knife you can sneak up on someone to preform a stealth kill which will be a one hit kill to the player where slit their neck. After you kill a player you can begin to loot them.

Zombies
There are several different types of zombies. Some slower than others, some harder to kill then others. Here a few I have thought of...

Human Zombie: Once a human. Has been bited. Normal health and speed. Often found in small groups of two to four

Dog Zombie: Man's best friend no more. This zombie is dog that has received the infection. Though easier to kill than Human Zombies, they are much faster and can easily take you down in packs. Often found in packs of four to ten.

Heavy Zombie: These zombies had a little to much to eat. They are the slowest of all the zombies, but have the most health. Often found by themselves or with another.

Mutations: The scientific experiment that started it all. These zombies escaped and started the outbreak. Has the speed of a dog zombie and the health of a heavy zombie. Though very bad, these kind of zombies are very rare since the military killed off most of them before the major outbreak. Never found in packs.

Character Customization

Here is the information for the character...

Name: ( you can pick a first and last name from the long list of names we have. This name will only be seen by players who select your player. )

Skin Tone: ( Has a list of eight different skins tones to pick from )

Gender: ( Male or Female )

Height: ( On a scale of 5'5 FT to 6'8 FT )

Weight: ( On a scale of 120 LB to 480 LBs )

Body Fat Percent: ( This also decides your players wants and needs )

Facial Structure: ( You will be presented with a analog width and length mover. )

Head Hair: ( Pick from our hair style section for head )

Facial Hair: ( Pick from our hair style section for face )

Hair Color: ( Changes both head and facial hair )

Player Bio: ( Cool thing here. This is an optional option and isn't required. You can fill out a bio about your player. Somewhat of a life story of sorts. When you enter the Peaceful Area you can submit your bio. Now people can browse player bio's and vote on them. The higher rated your bio is the better chance you have at winning an in game currency reward at the end of the month. )

Next is your character's wear....

I have several things that I have thought of...

If an item has CD, CC, or both next to them it means you can customize the design ( CD ) and customize the color ( CC )

Headwear:
- None
- Baseball Cap ( CD + CC )
- Backwards Baseball Cap ( CD + CC )
- Bandana ( CD + CC )
- Gas Mask ( CC )
- Visor ( CD + CC )
- Turbin ( CC )
- Bandana Masks ( CD + CC )
- Boonie Hat ( CD + CC )
- Beanie ( CD + CC )
- Shemaghs ( CD + CC )
- Military Helmet ( CD )
- Ghillie Suit ( Has 3 Parts )

Upper Body Wear:
- None
- T-Shirt ( CD + CC )
- Long Sleeve T-Shirt ( CD + CC )
- Tank Tops ( CD + CC )\
- Dress Shirt ( CC )
- Polo T-Shirts ( CC )
- Ghillie Suit ( 2nd Part )
- Sweatshirts ( CD + CC )
- Jerseys ( CD +CC )
- Jacket ( CD + CC )

Lower Body Wear:
- Athletic Shorts ( CD + CC )
- Sweat Pants ( CD + CC
- Cargo Shorts ( CD + CC )
- Cargo Pants ( CD + CC )
- Ghillie Suit ( 3rd Part )
- Athletic Pants ( CD + CC )

Shoes:
- None
- Running Shoes ( CD + CC )
- Military Boots
- Sandals ( CD + CC )

Weapons

So I stated earlier that there are several weapons found throughout the world. Some better than others. Here are a few...

- Your Fists
- Baseball Bat
- Crowbar
- Brass Knuckles
- Pistol
- Military Assault Rifle
- Civilian Assault Rifle
- Sub Machine Gun
- Knife
- Axe
- Shovel
- Sniper Rifle
- Grenades
- C4

Inventory
Your inventory is what you have on your at the time. The more weight you have with you the slower you are. You can buy different bags that hold different amounts of weight. You can only store items if you have a faction fort. All the items go into one place for everyone, but you can only view your items. You can drop off and add items to your inventory there.

Vehicles

It is very rare that you run across a working vehicle. This is the only resource that doesn't respawn at the two hour mark. Vehicles only respawn when destroyed. If you find a vehicle you can drive it. This can be used to get to certain places fast. Vehicles can also be stored at your faction fort. Vehicles available include cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and armored vehicles. The armored vehicle is the rarest of them all and there are only four of them on the entire map. Vehicles can be run with gas. Gas is a common resource found in looting buildings. You need gas for the vehicle to run.

Faction Shop
The faction shop can be purchased using faction XP. What this does is it sets up a small add-on to your fort. Here you can combine resources to make new weapons ( Ex. Baseball Bat and Nails ), Upgrade Vehicles, and much more.

I know that was a lot of reading guys, but please tell me how I did. Also vote on the poll. If you would add or change anything please tell me!!

Thanks!

I knew someone would say something about that, lol. Personally I think DayZ is a horrible add-on. Yes it's a great idea and has a lot of stuff, but have you ever seen gameplay of it? Its horrible. I can never get over how fake the zombies die. It also has tons of glitches, not player glitches, but game glitches which are terrible as well.

On the other hand I did get some inspiration from a couple of there ideas, but then improved on them. The only thing I thought good enough to use from their game was PvPvZ, but much improved. I know their game includes more of what I have down, but I didn't use it like they did because it was so poorly used.

Personnally i imagine creating a game like dayz is extremely difficult. I mean it has problems and its only a mod. It will outgrow arma 2 at some point and they will make it into a real game, I assume at that point the majority of those glitches u speak of will b ironed out.
But back to your game idea, sounds gd but also sounds expensive.

Yes expensive.... now. But think later on down the line. In just about 5 to 10 years the game systems will be holding crazy amounts of memory able to support and I think the top countries will sort out their economy by then, so it won't be as much. It will cost much more money than the average game though.
