We’ve already seen several patches released for Modern Warfare 3, and good thing too—like any game release, this one has had its bugs and has needed some improvements. Modern Warfare 3 is a great game, which is why we’re very excited (and relieved) to announce that Microsoft has promised to release the next Modern Warfare 3 patch later this month. Some of the problems which have been plaguing gamers include lag, particularly during host migration, and the desire for Strict Nat and improved matchmaking. Gamers are also having more difficulty locating games to join than should be necessary and are having to do so by joining a friend’s party first. It might take dedicated servers to actually fix the lag issues, but a patch could still help.
So what will the next Modern Warfare 3 patch address? According to Robert Bowling, patch 1.08 will take care of an exploit which has been annoying gamers. “The exploit allowed you to assign Damage proficiency to primary weapon classes that didn’t have it available. No way to do it by accident.” He went on to say that with the help of the patch, they will now be “tracking anyone abusing it and will ban offenders.”
We don’t know much else at this point about the patch, but the last patch, 1.07 included hot fix updates, FMG9 and Akimbo FMG9 re-balancing, fire-rate normalization for assault rifles with undermounts, and other weapons related fixes. Some map exploits on Dome were fixed, and new modes were added to the game. These modes were created by users. The one which has become the most popular so far is the Drop Zone mode. None of these fixes related to lag or servers, but maybe the next patch will focus on different issues while still fixing exploits. We can only hope.
